Meet the Team

Graham

Graham

“This job is heaven – the people making the huts love doing it, the people buying the huts love showing them off, and people that use the huts love the experience. What’s not to like?”

Graham, Sussex born and bred, is the boss. He’s into all things old and loves to bring them back to life - the bigger the restoration challenge, the more he likes it. A skilled carpenter, joiner and occasional cabinetmaker, he knows what works and what doesn’t. He can turn his hand to most things and is currently restoring 1930s motor cars, a vintage AA call box, a 1915 pram and a 1960s pinball table, not to mention a proper Mini pick-up. He puts the success of his marriage down to spending all his time in the workshop.

Kevin

Kevin

“When we first started, I thought it was just a hut on wheels. But they’re much more than that – we design, build and finish each one exactly as the customer wants. There’s no such thing as a standard hut. I get a proper buzz out of seeing the look on people’s faces when they take delivery. You can’t put a price on that, and it makes all the effort worthwhile.”

Kevin, Sussex born and bred, is our senior CNC operator (technology sometimes has its uses). Don’t be fooled by his tattoos and gold teeth – Kevin’s a big softie at heart, as well as being a highly skilled builder in his former life. A keen angler (mainly big carp), he’s a proper countryman who inspires the team with his keen eye for quality and detail.

Gary

Gary

“It sound odd, but I get really attached to the huts when they’re finished and I get quite sad when we have to say good bye to them. Aside from that, there aren’t many people who enjoy their job as much as we do. We take pride in what we do and I’m proud to be part of such a great team.”

Gary, Sussex born and bred, used to be a coach painter, coat after coat, endlessly rubbing down and polishing. Gary doesn’t rush things – he takes the steady, considered approach of a dyed-in-the-wool perfectionist. When he’s not on the huts, you’ll find him in the paint shop working on some restoration project or other.

Ollie

Ollie

“My mates think what I do is really cool, because they’re mostly doing boring jobs. I’m learning a lot and it’s a lot more complicated than it looks – Dad doesn’t let me get away with taking short-cuts!”

Ollie, Gary’s son and Sussex born and bred, is the youngest of the team. He’s learning his craft and his skills at that age where a revvy modern car has more appeal than the purr of a traction engine, but he’ll learn to appreciate the finer things in life – eventually!

Andy

Andy

“When I was at Uni designing buildings, I didn’t think I’d be using my skills to create shepherds’ huts! Dad doesn’t always admit that the computer can sometimes do a quicker and better job than he can. But he’s learning. Seriously though, the combination of new tech and old skills works brilliantly and is reflected in the final product.”

Andy, Graham’s son and Sussex born and bred, is the academic of the team. He knows computers and CAD packages inside out and he makes sure that your hut is exactly how you want it. His knowledge of the rules and regs ensures that every hut meets all modern safety and energy standards while retaining the traditional look and feel.

Woody

Woody

“Having spent much of my life working in ridiculously small spaces, what I do now is pure luxury. It’s my job to hide all the technology and make sure it conforms to all the latest safety regulations.”

Woody (nobody knows his real name) is Sussex born and bred. He’s our magician of all things electrical – and as you’d expect from someone whose current project is rebuilding a 1932 telephone exchange, he knows his stuff. He thrives on Werther’s Originals and the Afternoon Play.
